The big surprise went over like a lead balloon - which is what we were sort of afraid might happen. I think Harper was disappointed that there wasn't a toy in the box! Oh well - someday we'll all laugh about it. I think she just didn't grasp what was happening. A few moments into the video I laugh like a crazy person because Matt signed, "Matt," instead of, "Dad," on Harper's card - he was distracted and in a hurry. At the very end of the video Matt is asking Harper if she wants to go to Disney World and she says, "Not yet."
Despite the initial poor reaction to the gift we had a really fun afternoon/evening with family and friends. There were tears when people left (Harper's) which is the sign of a great party.
They cake, by the way, did come out completely lopsided, but, eh, cake is cake and it still tasted delicious!

OMG, KIDS! I think their circuits get blown at parties and they can't think straight. She'll get it later!
Oh! Poor you! I was really excited for you but you know, they are just on emotional overload at parties and she did look a bit confused. I bet she''ll get more & more excited as the days and paper chains go by.
I hope to do the same for my kids one day so will probably have a similar video :-)
Oh, I loved it! I just laughed the whole time watching this. Doesn't matter that she didn't react like we all wanted. That's what made it great. I'm sure she'll get more and more excited as it approaches.
Kids! They never react how you think they will. I'm sorry it was so disappointing, but you're right - it will be hysterical when she's a little older and you can remind her of it. :)
Well, now you can look forward to her excitement over the real thing, which will still be wonderful. I'm so excited for you all!

She'll have such a blast. She probably didn't know such a wonderful trip could come in a box!
Harper's reaction is priceless. Sounds like it was a great party!
At least you know that regardless of her initial feelings on the trip, she will be SO EXCITED when she is there. Plus, you can spend the next couple of weeks getting her really pumped up. You'll have to keep us posted on how her feelings about going to Disney World evolve!
I finally was able to watch Harper's video. Oh my goodness...this is beautiful. I love her complete non-reaction. I also love when she holds up the paper chain towards the end of the video...as if perhaps something will drop out of it (a toy?). This is good stuff! I can't wait for her trip...I'm sure she'll LOVE it!
