That Time Again

As you all know tomorrow is Thanksgiving. And then the next day is the day after Thanksgiving - also known as the day Christmas comes out of the boxes around here - yipee!

As I have done the last couple of years, I would like to celebrate the arrival of the holiday season by doing a Christmas mix giveaway. If more than 20 people enter I will draw two winners. Winning commenters will receive a custom Christmas CD, created based on answers to a few musical taste questions.

To enter all you have to do is leave a comment on this post and tell me either your favorite or least favorite Christmas song - it's that simple!

Good luck!

(Edited to add: You can enter until midnight on December 3rd, I'll choose a winner over the weekend and try to have a CD out while there is still time to enjoy it!)

I'm not in Christmas mode yet, so I'm struggling to think of a favorite. O Holy Night, especially the scene in Home Alone. (I always think of Christmas movies)

I love Christmas music. Last year there was a cont. rock station that 'went over' in November. This year it was bought by someone else, and a COUNTRY station went over. I'm SO thrilled. I like the regular Christmas music, but I hate things like Mariah Carey trying to do an aria in the middle of silent night. Argh. The only song I really can NOT stand is the 'band aid' song-- the main chorus lyrics are 'there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas... do they know it's Christmas time at all'... umm, yeah genius, if they're Christians, they do. I find it so stupid. :)

Gosh I love all the hymns, especially silent night. I also love Maria Carey "All I Want for Christmas", The Pogues Christmas song with Kirsty MCCall, Slade's "Merry Christmas Everybody", anything by Bing Crosby or Nat King Cole or Perry Como.

My absolute favourite is "Happy Christmas - War is Over" by John Lennon. I get goosebumps every time.

There isn't one I don't like - I am a big softy for Chsrstmas songs and love them all.

Ok, I'm commenting only because if I did win, I would hope that whatever songs you put on the cd would be things that I'd enjoy listening to for an extended period of time. Because I am not a big fan of Christmas music.

This would be blasphemy, wouldn't it?

I do like Michael Buble's "Let it Snow," and Dean Martin's "Baby It's Cold Outside" (which is more an "I made a bad choice in whom to sleep with song" than a Christmas song.

I like the songs on the Charlie Brown Christmas CD. And O Holy Night.

I think I just prefer classics, rather than newfangled Christmas music.

My favorite is The Christmas Wish by John Denver & The Muppets (sung by Kermit).

I'm cheating a little bit here, because I've already received one of your (AWESOME!) Christmas cds. But I know you. And I know you've got another great mix in your collection. So I'm entering this only by first disclosing that I am GREEDY and I want ANOTHER CD.

Shameless.

ENTER ME ENTER ME ENTER ME. My favorite Christmas song right now is Jewel's "O Holy Night," but I also like song such as "Santa Baby" and etc., so it's not like I have one particular TYPE of song.

My mom still has records so we would sing and dance around the house to the song C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S where each letter represents a word (I think it was off the Child's First Christmas Album". Or we would break out the John Denver's Christmas with the Muppet Record - good ol' Kermie and Miss Piggy.

I love "Mary, Did You Know?" by Kenny Rogers and Wynonna. My least favorite is "Jingle Bells" by Barbara Streisand. I turned on Christmas music in the car on Thanksgiving Day and hubby could hardly stand the 5 minute drive to my parents' house. What a grinch! =)

There are so many great Christmas songs! Echoing some of your commenters, I love the John Denver and the Muppets CD. My other all time favorite is Vince Gill's Christmas album, that is several years old. There are a couple of original songs on there that are just gorgeous. I also love Michael W. Smith's Christmas CDs as well.

I seldom win anything but I'll wish extra hard to win this time!
Thanks for hosting this contest. :-)

yay! a giveaway! your mixes are net legends, so maybe this is my lucky year :)

my new favorite is from a CD we found last year at a fair trade shop- it's called "An African Christmas" (I think, b/c hub won't get the christmas stuff down from the attic yet!) it's awesome, with lots of drumming, and a great chorus that says something like "we need, an african christmas, peace and love, all thru the year" good times.

otherwise, I actually love O Come O Come Emmanuel during December :)

Visiting from Swistle...

Hey! I have a graduate degree in Library stuff toooooo. AND I lived in Ohio once-upon-a-time. We are practically twins.

And I like God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman and Frosty the Snowman. Yay for giveaways!

I love a different song every year it seems. This year it appears to be "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." My 4 year old has been singing any Christmas song he can remeber the words to. He really loves "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

I grew up listening to the Christmas albums of Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Andy Williams, and Johnny Mathis. One of my favorites was J-I-N-G-L-E Bells by Sinatra.

Hmmm, my all-time favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. That song just gets me 'right there', you know? In the secular section I LOVE the 12 PAINS of Christmas. God that is a funny song. Google it if you're not familiar. It's great. :)

As for my least favorite? Well that could be a long list - how about I stick with Santa Baby or anything with whiny women or children. Sweet children I can handle, cranky whiny children, not so much. Maybe b'c I have enough of my own. Haha.

My favorite Christmas song is "O, Holy Night," but I'm a sucker for most of the traditional Christmas hymns.

I would LOVE some new Christmas tunes :) Honestly the song that always makes me so happy when it appears at Christmas time? Last Christmas by Wham. I suppose I am a diehard child of the 80's, but then again I also derive great joy at how into the song I get & how far back my husband's eyeballs roll when it comes on and I spaz out. :)

I love Little Drummer Boy with David something wearing tight pants. Sorry, I'm pregnant. Remembering is especially tricky. BOWIE! And I also love a BNL Christmas song, but I haven't heard it in years and I don't remember what it even sounds like, and WAS it BNL?

As a recipient of one of your (non-Christmas) mixed CD's, I can say that I want to win! PICK ME!

I don't there's any Christmas music I don't like. In church, I love to sing What Child Is This.

Pam said...

Seeing as it's not the deadline yet can I add "When Child is Born" by Johnny Mathis - absolutely beautiful! Thanks!

Carol of the Bells and Sleigh Ride are favorites here. If you're looking for good CDs-- the Von Trapp Family singers christmas album is really nice.
