Pay it Forward: Book Edition

Last week I went to Half-Price Books and found copies of three of my favorite novels, written by three authors I really adore. I also found a charming picture book, again by a favorite author, which is in excellent (giftable!) condition. And the good news is that they can all be yours!

Here's how it works:

1. You enter by leaving a comment on this post. Please make sure there is an email address or blog link with your comment so I know how to contact you.

2. You have until Friday, July 18th, at noon (Eastern time), to enter.

3. I use a random number generator to chose a winner from the comments.

4. The winner enjoys the book package and pays it forward by hosting her own contest. (Although you can enter even without a blog, I can help you pay it forward if necessary!)

The grown-up books are perfect, in my humble opinion, for summer reading (i.e. not too intense). The picture book is very simple and sweet, ideal for a younger child, and would make an excellent baby gift.

Need something to say? Tell me whether you use your public library and how often.

Edited to add: If you want to know the titles of the books to decide whether you'll enter, just email me. I'm happy to share them, but don't want to list them here, just in case the winner prefers to be surprised.

I really shouldn't enter any more Pay it Forwards, but your prize sounds great.

I take my kids to the kids' storytime at our public library every week and we usually check out a few books while we're there.

This sounds like a great prize!

When I was younger we used to go every week or two. Now, not so much, especially since my new local library actually enforces the fines. Yeah, oops.

Yeah books! I don't spend too much time in public libraries, but do of course make it over to the school library with some regularity.

I really want to do one of these contests, so if I don't win this one, I might just go ahead anyway...
We go to storytime most weeks, and I've used the library alot for children's books. I use it for myself when there's something specific I'd like to read, but don't want to purchase.

I love PiF's!!! And books! It's a win-win situation!

On a side note- I didn't make it to the PO on Friday, family drama. BUT! I will be going first thing in the am. I am so excited. I hope you like your gift!

Yeah, another contest! Yes, I do visit our public library. We went a lot last summer, but I haven't been there since then. It's probably been a year. I had plans to go again this summer, but my mom just bought a bunch of new books. She and my aunt pass their books to me when they are finished. And my mom got a bunch of different authors/different types, so it's been really fun reading all these. When that supply runs out, I have a few books I'd like to get at the library.

Great contest! I need a good summer read, as my summer draws close to an end...

I LOVE Half Price books. I am a teacher and love to read, so needless to say, I am in Half Price Books as often as possible.

I use my public library only during the summer, only during the month of July. this is the only month that I am off of work long enough to actually go in, check out books, and actually remember to return them on time.

I use the library at least twice a month. I usually check out 5 books at a time. This semester for summer school, I was able to borrow half of my required texts from the library- saving me about $70 bucks!!

Always use the library, always will. I love the way the library smells, I'm that much of a book geek.

I swear that Pay It Forward Contests are my new addiction!

I use the library all the time - at least once a week.

I absolutely use the public library. In fact, we're at the beach this month and actually just got a temporary library card the other day for the local library here.

I'm loving these Pay It Forward contests!

The library is great....once a month, or so, I pick up a new book.

We went to story time weekly, until this summer when they decided to cancel it until the fall. We still go to get movies and books every couple of weeks though. And the kids love participating in the summer reading program.

Sadly I haven't used our public library in a few years. I do want to take JB to storytime before my summer break is over though. I used to go to the library at least once a week. Not that much time for reading now though - I tend to buy a book and carry it everywhere with me hoping I'll get a chance to read.

I visit my public library but not as often as I'd like. It's hard to make it there, since it closes at 4:30pm some days and 6pm others. Nearly impossible for working parents. But sometimes I do. And it always, ALWAYS makes me feel good to be there.

We're avid library users because it's walking distance from our home. I actually hadn't bought a non-business book (for which I need longer than three weeks and one renewal) until this weekend because everything came from the library. Now all I have to do is start attending their events!

I'm in!

We go to the library every week. It's close to the class my son takes, so my daughter and I hang out there rather than going all the way home. It's one of their favorite places, fortunately.

I always went to the library growing up. Somewhere as an adult I started purchasing all of my books. Then I would immediately give the book away, (or, do the used book store give away). What a waste! I finally stopped buying books this year and now take my daughter every week. She is so excited about getting "new books." I thought that she would mind returning them, but she doesn't, since she always gets more "new books."

I do use the library. We probably go once a week when the story time is taking place or once every 2 weeks when they don't have it.

I tried leaving a comment yesterday but it didn't load I guess.

We go to the library about once a week and used to go way more before the baby was born. I can't wait to take him to story time! And join the summer reading program!

I am currently going to the library about once a week--due to my 8-year old having an art class there. Once that's over, it'll probably be back to once every three weeks--when the books are due.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

I thought I had entered! AH! I hope I'm not too late. I probably am. Sad.

Well I'm a "reserve at the library" sort of person because it has a limited number of books, but they're nice enough to bring them to me when I want them. I NEED good books to read, lately it's been dry.
