This is a photo of Harper, Dana, and I. Dana is a month older than Harper. Over the last year or so, we've really enjoyed getting to know Dana and her mom, Andrea. This year we've been trying to get together with them about once a month. Andrea has been a great sport about having us over at her home and fixing us lunch, which is a frustrating endeavor as Harper and I are both pretty picky! The girls are always doing cute things when they are together, but they refuse to "hold the pose" long enough for us to get a good photo of the two of them. This was taken the last time we got together. As you can see, Harper is trying to get away, but at least they're both looking!
Harper and Dana are such good friends, they called each other before we got together and both wore their striped pants. ;-)
Getting to know Andrea and Dana has really been a blessing to me. It's fun to see the ways the girls are similar and different. I enjoy discussing mom-topics with Andrea. It is great to have friends who are going through similar experiences. There are other moms from the play group we were in who have children close in age to ours. The difference is that they all have older children as well, which makes their schedules much more complicated. We had a great moms' dinner on Tuesday, closing Panera Bread. Some people may think a bunch of moms sitting together wouldn't have that much to talk about. You'd be amazed how much there is to discuss about potty training, eating and sleeping habits, and schools, even with toddlers! It's a misery-loves-company sort of situation, although we're far from miserable. Living with a one-year-old is a unique experience. Many days equal parts joyful and exasperating, it is a wonderful gift to share that with people who understand.
