Acoustophobia Update

Right about the same time we were telling our families the good news that I was pregnant with Harper, my brother, Jamie, decided he would go to college at the University of Dayton. I am a proud UD graduate, so I was thrilled that Jamie was going to flee Wisconsin and join the fun in Ohio. It's great being so close, except for the fact that we don't actually get to see him very often. Our schedule, living with a one-year-old, doesn't actually jive very well with the schedule of a college student! We are really looking forward to next year, when Jamie will have a car in Ohio, and he can drive himself over to see us any old time he pleases.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, Harper's Uncle Jamie plays the guitar. We thought that he could bring it over, I'd cook a fabulous dinner as payment, and he could try to gently re-introduce Harper to the instrument she'd found so very terrifying at our scary singing class.

As it turns out, the scariness of the class must be attributed to the scary singing teacher, because Harper wasn't the least bit afraid of Uncle Jamie's guitar. He was also a few hundred decibels less LOUD than the scary music teacher, this may have helped.

Not only was Harper not afraid of Uncle Jamie's guitar, she was ready to take it away, name it, make it a home, and sleep with it under her pillow.

Does it get much sweeter than that? Uncle Jamie was very patient with the fact that Harper preferred banging on the guitar to gently strumming it. She and Rebound had a great time dancing around while Uncle Jamie played.

Now we have to get him a chord book for toddler songs so we can all sing together. Harper doesn't know hand motions for anything Coldplay sings.

When did "Uncle Jamie" get facial hair? I know he's in college, but I can still picture his little room at the top of the stairs in your old house with baseball stuff, and football stuff...and bunk beds (even though there was only one of him?)

I love that he plays guitar...he always was a cool kid!
