In With the New

As promised, here are some pictures of our new (new-to-us) ride...

Harper enjoyed showing off the minivan.

The Cockpit

Look at all that glorious space!

Harper is a fan of her new spot in the car.

Harper loves the DVD player - and doesn't argue about the fact that we're only going to use it for long trips (like to Wisconsin)

Ah, trunk space! Room for a stroller and a kid (and probably some groceries).

So we are now the proud owners of a 2003 Honda Odyssey. It is newer than the car we sold, but has twice as many miles on it. That did seem a bit weird, that we would trade for a car with higher mileage, but it really was about the space and not about the condition of the car (my car was in great shape!). It's difficult to find a used minivan with all the bells and whistles, I guess people just drive them until they die. We're hoping to get a couple of years out of this one (maybe even 4?) and then be able to buy a brand new one. Is it too much to hope that there will be a hybrid minivan by the 2013 model year???

We just got a new van too and they told us they will have a hybrid minivan soon. Some friends are holding out for it! I am interested to hear what you think of the new recommendation to keep kids facing the rear until 2. I see Michael's seat is forward, as is my son who just turned 1 this month. I was too worried that his legs would be broken at the knee if I didn't turn him around.

Hooray for Odysseys. I traded in my "baby" learned-how-to-drive Civic for our van with lots o miles. But then again-- Hondas last!

Hey Kelsey the van looks great, can't wait for a ride in a couple of weeks! Have you ever considered putting that little cutie to work at one of those car shows?! She looks much more animated than some of the models the manufacturers use!

Anyone I know that has a Honda mini van LOVES it. And it's true--they last like crazy. I had my Civic for 10 years and it was still running great.

Congrats on the sweet ride!

I really love the new minivan- and am hoping to follow in your footsteps...it just makes the most sense. My husband gets annoyed if he can't have his seat back as far as he would like and we have an Explorer...the only other place to go is minivan. We would probably go used too but I'd love to end up with a Honda if it is possible. Congrats on the new ride :)

Oh, I love the new van! I'd like to get one with a DVD player one day. That will be nice for trips!

(I found you during FAAW and bookmarked your site. My son has a peanut allergy, too, and I often write about it on my blog: Gravity of Motion)

Congrats! I became a mini-van driver recently too. They are nice....still totally uncool, but nice and practical.
