I'm so glad there are people like you out there, helping us champion our cause, because frighteningly enough, there is a growing number of people that don't see the need for libraries... and that's just sad!Valnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-89836606943971826222009-08-21T07:25:41.049-04:002009-08-21T07:25:41.049-04:00We have gotten alot out of our local library-- I n...We have gotten alot out of our local library-- I never appreciated it the way I should have when I was younger...but we have enjoyed our share of storytime! Both my boys love books at this point & I hope to foster that in them. We don't get there as much now but hopefully we can work into the mix more. BTW- your comment from my post- I actually went back to read to see if I referred to the baby as "she" inadvertently. Michael thinks the baby is a girl so he sort of has me thinking that too. You will get full credit for predictive powers if this is indeed a girl :) Thanks again for the advice!!bluedaisyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00501263462151943825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-51284377226298102462009-08-20T16:50:03.676-04:002009-08-20T16:50:03.676-04:00Kels, i loved that library growning up too! It was so small in hindsight...but the shelves upstairs seemed so tall that i thought they had everything. i especially liked going downstairs though because it felt really special that the kids area was separate.
-GoobsAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-84914321442670189082009-08-20T15:49:45.924-04:002009-08-20T15:49:45.924-04:00My daughter and I love the public library. Our local library has cut back on staff and some other things but mainly we are okay. Public rec centers deserve a mention too - we can do all kinds of stuff, including swim, for $1 a year.Pamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05443153003836499323noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-77010486663517636342009-08-20T07:02:28.817-04:002009-08-20T07:02:28.817-04:00Awe, shucks-- it because of this I go to work ever...Awe, shucks-- it because of this I go to work every day.
I love seeing the parents and kids and getting them excited about reading.

And with times so hard, staff so short, I need to remember to smile because even though I know we are providing less (and getting grumbled at), we are still providing a lot and doing important work.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05737626342622550476noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-80197929511948367322009-08-19T19:04:09.410-04:002009-08-19T19:04:09.410-04:00WOOT for public libraries. I could absolutely do with nicer *librarians*, but the library itself, and the inter-library loan system, rocks.Astartehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07337583910910454897noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-52102451967300297572009-08-19T08:05:26.798-04:002009-08-19T08:05:26.798-04:00lovin the library. will hate it if we have to pay ...lovin the library. will hate it if we have to pay for the services when we get a house, though. trying to enjoy it while it lasts. my mom pays a whopping 30$ for a year of library. here its more like $120.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04474928571871603804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18065716.post-50216243930543309842009-08-19T06:50:18.299-04:002009-08-19T06:50:18.299-04:00If it gives you any hope... last Nov (the Presiden...If it gives you any hope... last Nov (the Presidential election, so EVERYONE voted), there was a municipal tax hike earmarked for the library which was on the ballot. It's not huge, but it is a large percentage when it comes to tax; it's also got a sunset clause which will end the tax once the library expansion is complete (7 years, I think). Anyway, it passed with a whopping 70% YES. That's HUGE! We're not the only ones who love the library!Erinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05170500094049647497noreply@blogger.com
